Bow arrow choice
« on: March 02, 2009, 08:40:00 PM »
I have a 44lb@27" longbow which I pratice with everyday it's no speed demon but quiet as a ghost and I can shoot this bow with great accuracy. When I go hunting normally pick up one of my newer bows which are also closer to 50lbs and 15 to 20+ FPS faster same arrow to hunt to get that extra punch on game. I was shooting the bow this evening in the house using my lighted Chrony and here are the numbers I average below. I was thinking about hunting some with this bow and am trying to deside on which arrow weight to use for normal size hogs, deer, and maybe a turkey. I am also using two blade single bevel broadheads on the 475gr and 523gr arrows. The 620gr arrow is a 300gr Xtreme 3 blade. Thanks for any info.

475gr arrow  147 FPS

523gr arrow 140 FPS

620gr arrow  131 FPS

523gr
Its not the size of the animal you hunt that matters. Its how you hunt the animal.

It will work with a good sharp head and a good shot.
Now then, get your weapons ~ your quiver and bow ~ and go out to the open country to hunt some wild game for me.  Gen. 27.3
