I'm in Juneau, which is about 90 miles south of Haines.
Haines is a fairly small community and doesn't have many stores, so you will have to order stuff you need, or drive somewhere else to get it. While you have to take a ferry or fly to Juneau, Haines is connected to the continental road system, so you can get to Whitehorse in a few hours, or to Anchorage, which will take you a long day to get to.
There are moose, goat and bear in and around Haines. I think the moose are covered by subsistance rules, so I don't know how accessable they are to people who are working for a living. Again, you have the road, so you can hunt in Canada and drive to interior Alaska.
Fishing is good in both fresh and salt water.
I don't know about their police force needs. I'm pretty sure that Juneau is looking for officers.
We have quite a few active archers here, with a fair number of them shooting trad.
When the deer herd is up, and can be pretty good hunting around Juneau. You can get moose near by, as well as goat and bear. F&G planted some Roosevelt Elk on some of the islands south of Petersburg, so that's another hunting possibility. Prince of Wales Island has lots of Sitka Blacktail deer and black bears. The buck on my Avatar was taken there.
The saltwater fishing is good.
Taxes are a bit high, but so are the wages, so you'll do o.k.
Ketchikan might be another possibility, with deer, goat, bear and elk close by, and it is a short ride on a ferry to Prince of Wale Island.
Good luck with whatever you decide.
