Turkey Blinds
« on: March 13, 2009, 12:09:00 PM »
I've always just made blinds from whatever is laying around the area but have been considering buying one. Can anyone recommend one thats roomy enough for a recurve and doesnt cost to much? I've been looking at one from ameristep that comes to a point on top that cost around fifty bucks, anyone have any experience with these. Thanks, Craig

No experience with those, but remember YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.  $50 seems pretty cheap.

I have been using a Double Bull for many years.  They are more expensive, but one purchase will last you for many years.  Just my opinion.

I agree, the DB or the Rhino blinds. You'll be much happier imo.

I shoot a 62" Fox High Sierra out of my DB Matrix without any problem. I like it. Frank

Check out the Yukon Tracks Enforcer also. Great blind for about $150. 80" tall.

Primos blinds are nice also.

Don't use the $50 ameristep! It's plenty tall enough for you but it's not wide enough for you to draw your bow.  Your elbow is against the back wall and your hand sticks out the window in the front.  You don't have to buy a $400 blind just check the dimensions on the outside of the box.  I paid $60 for my blind on sale at Dick's and I hunted out of it for 3 years and this year someone else will hopefully enjoy several more years since they snuck on the private property I hunt and made off with it.

I use the Ameristep Penthouse.  It's the only blind I have found I can come to full draw in and still be able to move around for a shot.  I shoot a 64" bow, not a recurve, so you may have better luck with something smaller.  The Penthouse is really big.
