Who wants a string...I'm learning and getting better!
« on: March 22, 2009, 03:34:00 AM »
I'm learning how to make strings so I need someone to look at one and see what ya think.

I have a 58.5" 14 strand B-50 string that is dark brown and tan with a Brownell's green #4 serving.  It hasn't been shot and but I’m assuming it will stretch some but there is room to twist it up some more.

I strung it on my Martin Savannah 62" longbow but the loops are one twist too long.

If you want it PM me your address and reply to this.

If you don't like what you see when you get it...throw it in the trash.  It is shootable but the loops are a bit large from my LB, might be better for a recurve tip.

(Edited portion) Actually I just twisted another one up and it is perfect for my Savannah...if you have a Martin Savannah or a 62" lb and want this string let me know.  I'm going to build another one or two tomorrow!

Thanks,

Josh

Hey Josh,

that first one might work on my '61 62" Grizzly.

PM sent.

if it's a flemish, just take the loop apart and redo it.

I'll send it out tomorrow...like I said if you don't like it toss it in the trash.

It is Flemish but I'd rather build another for the experience.

That is a good idea though.

I'm going to make another one tonight but still have the other of the two posted above.

I'm going to try to make one for my Kota Recurve tonight.

Josh

P.S.  Let me know if you want the one I still have.

If you make a string too long, you could check out John Scifre's (John's Homepage) and try the method he shows there.
I'm learning to twist flemish as well. Like everything else, strings ae addictive too!!
