I got something like this the other day. Just think...if these things didn't work with somebody / somewhere they wouldn't do it!

I read the other day of a guy that was taken for over 150K in one of the Nigerian 419 scams.

All it takes is one or two bites out of the millions of emails that go out to make it profitable for these people.  It costs them next to nothing to send the spam so anything they get is profit.

This is super common. I can't believe the number of oil executives, bankers, mining magnates etc who die in plane crashes and car wrecks. if they are so smart in the first place to make this kind of money, why don't they have a decent will.
I must have gotten 100's of these over the years.

Terry, please have someone check the system because they can hack into the system and mine all sorts of info. kids can get into the DOD computers. They could possibly use Tradgang as a portal into our sponsors sites.

Firstly and most importantly, Trad Gang has not been hacked or compromised in any way.  We're on our own, private, boiler plated UNIX server - not Microsoft, and that's a huge difference.

Trad Gang is a FREE and PUBLIC consortium of CGI/HTML flatfile "database" forums.  Most anyone can register and post.  One of the privileges of membership is the ability to use our internal communicator - the PM engine.  These private messages are created and controlled soley by the membership, and there are no restrictions regarding message content.  

IF, as a member, you elect to allow your email address to be viewed by others, it can be compromised for any usage, good or bad.

IF you use Trad Gang for your unauthorised own use, we reserve the right to terminate your membership.  This certainly applies to anyone registering with nefarious motives, such as spamming members.
 
That's really all there is to say about this topic.

Umm, well, not really.  

Have you ever gotten spam email from yerself or from an email address that you absolutely know isn't a spam address?  Spammers can hijack, use an email address as if it was the origin of the email, but it really isn't.  If, in your email application, you list that email as spam, you're essentially banning all email from the good email address!  Be careful!

Now, back to helping a good fellow Trad Ganger out with a bow deal that's gone waaay bad.  The fun never ends ...     :mad:

Well, we sure your patience Rob and Terry. Mods too. I'm sure it's hard work. But it's your hard work that keeps the few bad apples frm spoiling the bunch. That's my biggest fear.

This is such a wonderful place. But as it grows, and humanity spirals futher down the every year, these things will happen more. It's unavoidable. The increae in occurrence, that is.

That's the second worst thing ya can do.  If you reply, then they know they've got a live host so they can distribute (sell) yer email address to other scammers.  

Best thing to do is check the 'from' address, and if ya don't know it just add it to yer junk mail list or create an email filter to catch it before it hits yer 'in' box.

You wouldn't believe how many of these I get by way of my email address posted on my Christian web-site.
The ones I get are wanting my account number so they can donate millions of dollars to my ministry, so the local "sinners" can't get it.
I usually email them back and tell them the appropriate thing to do is to give the money to the "sinners" in their country........ because that's what the Lord would want them to do, but if they insist on me having it, they can just put the money in my Paypal account at [email protected], and I'll be glad to transfer it to my Ministry account!
