Limbs for silvertip
« on: March 25, 2009, 12:04:00 AM »
Are there bowyers out there that will build limbs to fit a silvertip?  My father wants so lighter limbs but the real deal cost around $750.  Who builds a suitable set of limbs for less.  Otherwise he just might as well buy a new bow.

I can't help you there, but as an interesting side-note, Dave Windauer of Schafer Silvertip Bows does make limbs for Bear take-downs.

bear heart,  i'd try the classifieds. you can also call dave and see if he can take some weight off the limbs you have now, depending on how much lower you want to go.

The classifieds here worked for me. Just two weeks ago I wanted another set of limbs for my Morrison and after a WTB thread it was about 4 days when a member in North Dakota pm'd me with the perfect set.  They are on their way to me as we speak.

Lots of Schafer limbs out there I'd say your chances are good.

they should fit mate but they may not match up exactly with the riser. Best to Phone Beth at silvertip and tell here what bow you have and what limbs to look out for

It really depends on how old his tip is? I would think the newer CNC riser would match up with the newer limbs. I have mixed and matched with older ones and they don't match up very well but did work!

I think your price is a bit off on a new set of limbs from Dave. I checked a few days ago and a basic set with no special veneeres was 485.00. Not cheap but not 700.00 bucks either.Good luck, they do come up now and then on the classifieds.

G'day RobHood23!

Dave has a CNC machine now? Cool! When did that happen? If that's the case, it means I could get another set of perfectly-matching limbs (one day) without sending the riser back.

Cheers,

Ben

The CNC is news to me also. I'll ask Dave about it this weekend. Our local club is hosting the Mt. Bowhunters Assoc. annual convention.

How light are you looking for, I have a set I am not using. I think they are 40 plus at 30 inches. I will look if you are interested.

He's looking for something in the low 50's @ 29".  His current limbs are 61# @ 29".  The Michigan winters aren't getting any warmer and his body isn't getting any younger.  This grip was customized for him and checkered so he hates to give it up.

I would check with Beth. She had a couple of used sets just a while back. Check under the sponsors classified. I think they were posted there.
