I was at Bass Pro yesterday and have never shot this bow. The one I test drove was 50# and I shot it with a tab. The first thing I noticed is that it was not set up very good, the nock point may have been low. The arrows I used where carbons (redheads) and where not matched to the bow. But all those things considered apart from being loud, it grouped the arrows nicely and was hitting a 3d pig in the kill zone in no time. If I where to need a new bow for a turkey blind or for a tripod, I would not hesitate to get this bow it was a well performing bow, for what I had to shoot with. So with a little brace height and nock point adjustments and some arrows properly spine for this bow it would be a shooter.

These bows get a lot of bad presss

I've never seen anyone shoot these bows accurately out past 15 yards and finger pinch is a problem with many folks.  Yes, they get a lot of bad press, but most of it is deserved.

A much better choice would be Steve Gorr's line of short Cascade bows or the Kodiak Magnum (both 52").

Your probably right, I was shooting this bow accurately after 1 round of 8 or so arrows at bass pro under not ideal conditions. I believe that range is 20 yards at the Bass Pro in San Antonio. I have a Raven and I shot the Super Mag better quicker.

I have the Ben Pearson equivalant,,, a 48" Ambusher 56@28. I like it. Short bows take a little gettin used to, and aint what I'd pick to shoot a 300 round. But they put the arrow where it needs to go as long as you do your part, whether 7 yds or 20.

thats it in my avatar  ;)

I think the big problem with this bow is there is no mass in the handle and that is what makes it loud

i've owned several 48's and still own one.  i agree, as long as you know the bow it will put the arrow where you look well past 20 yards.  killed my first boar with a 48 well over 20 yards away.

I just picked one up. Anyone know where to start as far as brace height? Thanx,...Lloyd  :help:

Canadian, I just typed in brace height bear kodiak magnum & got start between 8 & 9". It came from 3-Rivers's web. FYI I just bought a Super-K & the instructions said the same thing. Hope this helps. Frank
