Fixable or not?
« on: March 27, 2009, 05:06:00 PM »
I was given a bow a while back that one of the laminations had come apart on about half of the limb. I was wondering if it is fixable or not? I can post pictures when I get home.

And if it is fixable what glue would you use?

Use some smooth-on epoxy, apply to both surfaces generously, clamp it with "c" clamps every 2 inches, and alow it to cure for at least 24 hours at room temp, but it's better to let it cure with heat, in a hot box, at 150 deg F. for about 6 hours.

Do I need to scrape the existing glue off?

Just use some denatured alcohol and gently clean the surfaces get down as well as you can into the place the delamination starts.  Let it dry then glue it back down with the smooth - on.
