Bullheads!
« on: April 15, 2009, 04:22:00 PM »
Wow - I just acquired some 125 grain Magnus Bullheads and pictures don't do justice to the real thing.

Man these buggers look  lethal   :scared:  .

Good luck to all of you turkey hunters out there!

Have you shot them?  How do they fly?

How would these work on grouse and or ducks? Anyone have any experience with that? Sadly we don't have turkeys here. Some day when I can afford it I'll come down south and help you all with the turkey harvest.

I just got them last week, I was shooting them out to 30 yards with no problems. I think you have to be well tuned though. I'm hoping for a 8 to 12 yard head shot. I'll let you all know how they work if I hold my end of the bargain.

Wish they were glue ons?
I've heard nothing but great things about them.

I've shot mine 4 times not at a target *(one at a bird, others at ground to test 'em out.. no bird dead) Broke one blade off on second shot.. Not sure what it hit. maybe a stump but looked like dirt. Anyway, 1 out 4 shots did damage to head. Seem to be flying well otherwise. I think that 10-12 yard would be nice. Mine was at 17 and walking but it was close enough to raise the blood pressure.

Mine fly well out to 20 yds.  I haven't tried past that-- I'm not accurate enough take an ethical shoot over 20.
The trouble is transport.  I've got two, nock end in the quiver hood, quiver adapters over the heads, with some hair-ties keeping them from coming off while stalking.  I also lined the adapters with adhesive back moleskin to make them quieter and fit snuggly.
What is everyone else doing?

I won't be hunting with them until this weekend but I have 1 Bullhead and 2 Woodsmens in my Selway bow quiver. I have about 1/4" of blade sticking out past the hood. I'll carry another Bullhead wrapped up in my pack if needed. We'll see.

You got it Ryan  :wavey:  I've got the camera batteries charging and the Sitka gear laid out.

I didn't get to hunt them last year because of the accident so I'm really looking forward to this hunt.  :D
