Kudos to Black Widow
« on: April 16, 2009, 08:36:00 PM »
Well a month ago I lucked out and bought a 1995 MAII Greybark that was rarely shot, as new finish and a dream to shoot. Yes I am lucky, but the bow was a little to heavy for me.
I called up the boys at Widow and they looked up my bow and told me they could take four pounds off of it with no problem. They could also reshape the riser to conform to the new specs but would refinish the bow afterwards.
I told them I needed the bow in time for Whittingham and they took good care of me. The bow came back today and it is as new, gorgeous, four pounds less and shoots like a dream.
Very professional. Responsive to their customers and precise in their work.
Just like to let people know when a job is well done.
Black Widow, well done and thank you

Yup this was my first experience with them after a long life heavily involved in trad archery and I was impressed.
I cannot speak for all there bows but the one I have is 49lbs @ 30" and it spits a 580 grain arrow out effortlessly, quietly and very accurately

In my dealings with them they have gone above my expectations and delivered sooner than promised. They make a great product and stand behind it, what more could you ask?? Except, maybe a 3 peice TD longbow:)

Worst mistake I ever made was selling my MA V - coincidentally I just ordered a new one the other day.  Nothing quite compares to a widow.

Renaissance Man, what do they charge to reduce the weight of a bow, I have 2 longbows that I would like to have the wt reduced on. I know I could call them, just thought I'd ask.
I always hit where I'm aiming, but rarely where I'm looking.

They charged me 175 for everything. That included refinishing the entire bow, riser and limbs, reshaping the riser and limbs to be the same as current bows so you can order limbs and they will fit exactly. they were able to take my serial number, look it up and determine before I sent it to them whether they could reduce the weight.
I beleive it is less to just reduce the weight.
The bow was mint when I got it, 9.8 out of 10 but you could not tell it from a new off the shelf now.
