Why no snakeskins on the belly side of bows?

Why do I never see snakeskins on the belly of a bow? It is always on the back. Is it just common practice or is ther some reason no one ever puts it on the belly side? Steve

I think it would be overkill as far as the decoration goes and cover up the contrasting beauty of what ever wood is used.

Well now Eric, I reckon that it all depends on how the ol' snake was skinned out!

A pretty snake belly deserves to be displayed, nice Pat!!
Seriously tho, getting a selfbow down to one ring on the back, you don't always end up with a real pretty piece of wood.

Most critters can't see the belly side of the bow when you're about to shoot at them so there's not as great a need to camo that side with a skin.

I saw a bow on an Australian bow site that had the whole limb covered with python skin.
