The closest public indoor range that I know about is at Bull Run Shooting Center in Virginia.  You can google it.  It's quite a drive out Rt 66.  If you are downtown, it's about an hour.

There are a couple of parks in Maryland that have archery ranges, but they are both outdoors. The closest is Lake Needwood in Montgomery County.  It's still a long drive, 45 minutes to an hour.

Both will take much longer to get there if you go during the high traffic hours.

I don't know of anything inside of the District and I've looked.

Maybe one of the Virginia guys can help you on that side of town.

Hope this helps,
Allen

Dixiebowmen is having their annual Trad Rendezvous this weekend. It is located just south of Richmond. A bunch of us Tradgangers will be there all weekend.

Thanks everyone.  I shot with Killie on wednesday and had a great time.  For this weekend, I actually have to drive back to NJ for a couple of reasons.  Since I am going back anyway, I'm gonna definitely be at the Whittingham shoot on saturday, but not sunday.  Gonna try to go to a shoot in VA the following weekend that Coyote Creek Archers is putting on.  Byron Ferguson is supposed to be there, I think.  I'm gonna try to shoot with Killie one evening next week.   I'm gonna get in touch with Bull Run shooting center and may try to head down there as well.  Thanks for all of the info.  And to Killie, thanks for the amazing hospitality.

If you still have extra time while in DC visit the Museum of American Indians, the Natural History Museum, The Portrait Museum and others along the Mall. All are free and very interesting.

Now, I must say that when I told my husband, Mockingbird, that I was gonna meet some sta-ranger from the internet and head into the woods with him, there was an eyebrow raised. Who knows, perhaps he was hopeful.

But checking Pat's posts, he seemed OK, and after all, he's an archer. He was prompt, could shoot well, and we went out for some 3D. The day was pleasant, even the hailstorm. He seemed a nice, though chatty fella, which is good because I (really!!) am a fairly quiet person. But then I got to looking at my bow pics and saw the one picture that I took of Pat. I swear, it is Ted Bundy on a bad hair day!

So,if I disappear...
And somebody crops up with a Centaur JUST like mine that also happens to say (or said...) "Killdeer" on the offside, buy that bow. It's a screamer!

Ted Bundy on a no-hair day, more like it.  I do get a little "chatty" from time to time, LOL.  Too bad I didn't have the jacket with me during the hail/rain storm.

Don't worry, you're safe.  After all, I'm a lefty.  ;)

Nope.  Still just have my Nissan Altima.  It's a little banged up, but it looks better with a deer in the back seat.  :bigsmyl:

If you have a deer in the back seat, how are you going to get into the trunk?   :p

The trunk opens from the outside.  At least sometimes it does. LOL.

I tried to call that Bull Run shooting range.  An old message is on the machine, and no one calls back.  I think the archery portion of the range may have closed.
