Anyone ever hunted there? I've heard that it is possible but I don't know the details.

Wow! That brings back memories, and I couldn't help but respond even though my experience goes back to 1970.  I was stationed there and actually did participate in the base hunt, and although I didn't connect- It was my first experience hearing some pretty big deer rough-housing around my stand.  If I remember right, if you're in the military there is a sign up and drawing.  If not, I think you might contact the base information officer for info.

I have a buddy who hunts there every year.  Elk/hog/turkey/deer.  I think they are very restrictive as to who uses it, not like Ft. Leonardwood in MO who lets everyone hunt.

check this or the number on it.  You might get some info.

I hunted all three ranges in the mid 70's. Quana Range was always good for me as it was the most forested.  In fact in those days we could shoot elk if they wandered off the Wildlife Refuge.  My class mate borrowed my shotgun and stand and killed a big cow. East ranges were good along the creeks for both tree and ground blinds. Turkey and deer everywhere.  Never saw hogs.  Find a corner away from firing positions and impact areas-one that is open during the week nd hunt that.  I found those palces were productive and the lines during the week days were short-but the avialablity was limited.
Cast a long shadow-you may provide shade to someone who needs it.  Semper Fi

I was stationed there in the early 80's, I hunted quail a few times. I know they have a controlled deer season.

I graduated from Artillery OCS in August 1966.  First place I lived that had big game.  Bowhunted the 1967 season; saw some nice bucks.  Had some great quail hunts as well.  Trespassing elk were legal during the deer season; no hogs then; plenty turkeys; good bass fishing.

Buffalo occasionally trespassed as well but weren't legal.  Got in a bunch of bedded buffalo one night setting up an ambush.  We forgot light and noise discipline for a few moments.   :)

Only hunting is on the weekends I guess? How much is the base license? How do I get the all the details? I called the sportsman services office but the guy working there wasn't much help.

To the top...
Anyone hunted Ft. Sill recently? I'm going there to take the safety briefing on the 14th. How does the draw work?
