Home made turkey calls
«
on:
April 21, 2009, 05:19:00 PM »
Has anyone called in a turkey with a call made from a pill bottle? I've made several over the years but have never tried it on turkeys. I just made another one and put camo tape on it and it doesn't sound have bad! I may try using it this weekend.
They are easy to make, but thought I would give one away if somebody thought their kid might like one.
I tried to fancy one up a bit with veneer strips but it hasn't worked so far.

Made one from an old plastic film canister and a balloon. Turkeys answered back but I did not use it as my primary call. Just was more confident with slate call.

Take a look at this old article on how to build a Tube Call. I put my ballon under the cap not on top as pictured.

Hey Jeff! Where ya been?
I will try to get a video of the call and how it sounds.
I guess I could do a build along. It's very simple.
I can get a cluck, yelp and purr out of this thing, but how the heck do you get a gobble?
I'll have to work on that one!
We leave for turkey hunting grounds on Thurs. late morning with high hopes and great expectations. Already planning how to cook'em up.
