Terry, Last year Barry Wensel brought one of Paul's old personal bows to Quebec on a bear hunt I was on and let us all shoot it. Very cool. Then he explained the background of the bow. He said Paul always carried an "extra" with him for people to try out in camp and this one was it. He said Paul made it at only 70# so anybody could shoot it, LOL. True story. BTW- the bow shot great.           Grant

Very cool! I can see why you got two of them. Every Shafer I have ever had the chance to shoot, shoots lights out. I would love to own one some day. I can see that happening

Enjoy!

Wow, great find! Both look to be in great shape too. Congrats.

Hmmmm....A HEAVY original Silvertip??    :saywhat:
Nah, can't be....Paul's bows only weighed a couple of pounds!!    :knothead:

Almost everyone shot heavier weights back in Paul's day. I know I did, and I'm feeling the effects today!

cool bows and seem to be in great shape too.

i was lucky enough to find 2 originals. 62# @ 28" and 65# @ 28.5". both are very smooth and seem like less poundage. i also have two of dave's bows..

can't go wrong with a silvertip!

Pretty bows.. congrats. I recently picked up a Paul made Silvertip 3pc from the original owner. He ordered two sets of limbs. One set is Zebrawood w/ antler tips 54#@28, other set is a early Realtree pattern camo at 57@28. Riser is Walnut dymondwood w/ checkered grip. This bow and limbs were recieved by him in late Dec 92', the month before Paul was killed. Surely has to be one of the last few he did. Feels cool as heck to hold it, knowing Paul worked it. I am glad these aren't the heavyweights as a lot of his were.

Good looking bows! I have one coming from Dave in september, but I would love to have one of the originals one of these days. Shoot! I'm young and spry and I don't think I would like to pull 77#s all the time. HA Thanks for sharing, Jason

My buddy has a couple and watching him shoot those bows is what got me into this.

They pay attention to detail.
