Got my first recurve when I was 8 years old some 47 years ago and have never been without one. If I may disagree.........you have now come to the bright side. It's about the people, the history and the journey. Welcome!

I think you will find trad archery relaxing for the most part especially when you are on a extended hunt somewhere and you know the only thing that could wrong is your string, no worried about sights, fall away rests, rangefinders, releases and all the other gimmicks! Do not get me wrong each their own but the simplicity gives me piece of mind!

"You have made a fun decision."
I'm beginning to understand what that means. Those same guys that "brought me into the light" kept saying there were things you can do with a traditional you can't do with a compound.
I didn't understand what that meant until I went on my initiation shoot with them. Shooting over hay bales at targets that you can't see using half draw techniques. Shooting from weird positions that, at least, I certainly couldn't shoot a wheel bow from.
You guys are right. It was fun.
Thx Wuff

To David Lewis:
Got your canoe out of dry storage? I hope those folks that wanted rain are happy now. I think I'm getting webbs between my toes.
You're braver than me, I haven't got the nerve to make the jump to building my own wood arrows yet. I haven't got passed fletching my own carbons. Found out that an Arizona EZ fletch doesn't work well on feathers.
One thing good about living where we do is that we've got a bunch of good bow builders right here in the area.
Later, Wuff

Wuff, take an exacto knife or an emery board and make the feather slots in the Az Easyfletch a little larger, and it'll work fine! And welcome to the fire. I've met a lot of great people here, gotten some great advice, learned a ton, and had a blast-you're gonna love it!
