New blood Alphonso & Edmond
« on: April 29, 2009, 08:33:00 PM »
I met Alphonso at out local restaurant and started talking bows.  I invited him to come to my house and see what trad is like.  Today he showed up with his son Edmond and the fun began.

Neither had shot a bow before but it didn't take long before we moved from trying to hit the haybales at 10 yards until we were shooting the deer target at 10 yards.

here is Edmond with his very first shot with any bow.

It wasn't very long before Edmond was hitting the deer consistently.

Here was Alphonso's first attemp.  It took awhile but I finnally got him to full draw by the end of the day.

Alphonso began to get the hang of it.

I wish I could have been in the photo but I was behind the camera.  I know they are both hooked now and I was glad to be the one to get them started.

I was really suprised with Edmond.  He took to it like a duck to water.  He was hitting the deer in no time at all.  I wish I had a lighter bow than the 40 lb Pearson Hawk for him to try but that was the lightest I had.

His dad did pretty good and will get better but Edmond shot like a natural.  At one point he asked if he could back up to 15 yards so we moved back.  Until he got tired he was doing just as good at 15 as he had been doing at 10 yards.

This puts a smile on my face. Someday they may be identifying trees, looking at tracks on the ground and hanging treestands.  You are a good ambassador, Pac.
