I am reaching out to some of my Traditional Archery friends because I might need a favor from somebody.
As some of you already know, I had shoulder surgery the first week of March and I am slowly on the mend, but I haven't healed up as fast as I had hoped.
I was going along pretty good with my therapy and I ended up getting a blood clot and a few other complications and to make a long story short, I am about only half as far along as I thought I would be at this point. Too much medicine and stinking blood thinners have slowed me down a bit.
Yesterday I was using a 1 and 2 pound dumbell in my therapy session, lol.
Here is the favor I might, let me repeat "might" need. I am finally getting the fire back in my belly to shoot and eventually hunt. I don't have the extra money to buy a new quality bow right now and I doubt that I will be able to shoot one of my hunting bows this fall. I have a 45# Bear Super Kodiak but it is a dog and the rest is too high and the throat is huge and I don't want to fight this thing. I know a lot of bowhunters across the country and over the years I have helped a lot of them in various ways. I am asking one of my buddies out there if it would be possible for someone to loan me a bow in the 40-45 pound range (at my draw) I pull an honest 29 1/2 inches.
I have several bows in my house for me and my family. All of my personal bows are from the low 50's to around 70#'s. My bows for Leslie and the girls are too light and or too short for me to hunt with. Right now I can barely pull a 15# target bow. I might be able to pull a 55# bow by late summer or early fall, but that will be a long way off.
I am just trying to line up a bow to borrow, rent, lease from one of my friends for the spring and summer. I am not trying to mooch a bow and get somebody to give me a bow. Anybody that knows me knows that is not my style. I don't want to buy a multi hundred dollar bow that I will only use for a few months or a season. I could buy a lighter bow and then put it up for Ian when he is big enough, but he is only 4 and I don't have a lot of extra money laying around to justify buying an expensive bow. I have been away from work for 2 months. I am getting paid my normal salary, just no overtime. Overtime is my play toy money. I have never taken money from our family income to buy toys.
To make a long rant a little shorter-If you are a friend or acquaintance of mine and you trust that I would take care of a piece of your hunting equipment and you would be willing to loan me a bow for a couple of months-Maybe a few more if I don't get up to a 50# bow by October, I would appreciate you PMing me or sending me an e-mail and let me know what you have available. I would really appreciate it.
Now, let me clarify a couple other things. Although I have been off work for 2 months, I have been getting my full salary, I am not destitute and I have all of my bills paid up, which is a blessing these days. I do not want anybody going through any extra trouble and I am not trying to scam a new bow. There are a lot of people out there that are deserving of a free bow, I am not one of them. I just need a good shooting, low weight, right hand loaner bow that will draw smoothly to 29 1/2 inches.
I have shot almost every brand of bow made and I know what I can shoot well and what I can't shoot well. If you have a bow available and are willing to let me use it, I would be very grateful.
I will pay all shipping and insurance, I will build a new string for it and I will even pay a reasonable fee for the use of it. I will even loan you a bow of mine if you want a little heavier bow to try.
I hope I am not sounding like a whiner or a mooch. I just thought this might be a good place to find a little help.
I could kick myself. I have sold or given away a dozen bows over the years that would be perfect for me right now, lol.
Thank you in advance, P.J.
