Run and Gun
« on: May 08, 2009, 08:37:00 AM »
It is time for the run and gun game where I hunt. The birds are decoy shy and call shy. I carry a stool, my bow and three arrows and a few mouth calls. I travel the ridges and call or wait till I hear a Gobbler and try to set up on him. I also find that the later in the season the hunting gets a little better later in the morning. When the hens leave Mr. Big  he gets lonely. One word to the wise, the younger birds come in quiet later in the season so even if you don't hear a bird stay put in a good spot for at least one hour. With the leaves on I try to get high so the birds can hear me.

Good advise, and a great way to hunt!!
In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities. In the expert's there are few...So the most difficult thing is always to keep your beginner's mind...This is also the real secret of the arts: always be a beginner.  Shunryu Suzuki
