Making things right
« on: May 16, 2009, 08:30:00 AM »
A couple of weeks ago, I had a bow blow up on me; what a surprise when your one piece selfbow becomes a three or four piece 'takedown'. Anyway, Mark Baker had made the bow for me last year. I emailed Mark about the blowup, and he immediately emailed me back, offering to either make me a new bow (no charge) or to send me a takedown that he had on hand. We traded emails and he sent pics of the takedown, which I decided would work pretty well for me. So, yesterday one of those tubes that we all enjoy seeing at the front door was there when I came home. Mark sent a beautiful takedown selfbow, 62", and 59#@28. I emailed Mark, thanking him for his quick and 'above and beyond the call' service. Well, he emailed me back and won't even accept postage for his work. Mark is truly one of the good guys; if anybody needs something that Mark makes, I would strongly recommend him. In these days of everything coming from China or Central America, it is nice to know that American craftsmen like Mark (and many others on this site) still take pride in their work, and produce a great product.
Mark, thanks for standing behind your product. You are a stand up guy.

There are a number of solid bowyers and craftsmen here that go a step or two beyond. Mark Baker stock just went way up in my book. Thanks for the story. Good on you Mark.
