That is a GREAT find, Jeeps!  I picked up a recurve on Friday, but it is an Internature (I think) Varsity III, 66" and 35 lb @ 28".  Came complete with a cheap one pin sight, kisser button, finger rest and slight lower limb twist, probably from standing on that limb for a good while.  It will make somebody a good starter bow, tho.

Talk about having a lucky day! What did you get them for?

I remembered this thread and reluctantly agreed to check out a few garage sales with my wife Saturday morning. I hate garage sales but thought I might get lucky.

I quickly scanned the junk, didn't notice any bows and was ready to leave. My wife, on the other hand had to look at AND HANDLE each and every item. Sigh, (eyes rolling). Oh well, I can do the good husband thing now and then.

When in these situations I try to find the humor in it. I made a few observations...............

1. Excersize bikes are like fruit cake. There are only a hundred or so in existance and they just keep getting passed around.

2. Baby clothes shouldn't smell like cigarette smoke.

3. Teenage girls have to buy the latest fashions but then won't wear them more than three times.

4. If there's no bows-keep moving! LOL

Hit a sale Thursday first thing I grabbed was a green plaid Woolrich coat in my size. Looked in the back of the barn and saw a bow and asked if she had any old bows or anything. She goes in the barn and comes back with a 1960 64" Polar 55 lb's. Gave fifteen bucks for the coat and bow. Hit about 20-30 more sales over the weekend and found nothing. I still have a smile on face.

Oh yeah, I always ask.  The answer is almost always "no", but no chance, no dance.

Well I haven't hit any yard sales this weekend, still recouperatin' from a last Wednesday accident...a little stiff and sore.  However, I bought a very nice Root Field Master on the big auction site for $65.00...64", 46#, leather wrap grip.  That was my deal of the day.

Nice find Jeeps.

A few years ago while visiting friends out of town, I happened to walk by  a school sale to raise funds for a student activity  and spotted a small pamphlet type book "Fun with... Bow and Arrow" 25 cents By Jack Van Coevering and Fred Bear.

It was in excellent almost new condition and is from the 1950s.

I got it for what they were asking (.25) but I threw in a small donation.
May your next adventure lighten your heart, test your spirit, and nourish your soul.
