Cant Make These Arrows Behave!!!!!!!

Well, I'm tuning some CE 150's cut to 29.5" to a longbow not cut to center (holm made osprey) that one of our fellow members loaned me, since i had to sell mine. I have bare shafted, adjusted the brace height and knocking point. I also want to say that i have never had an issue tuning.

  So here is the problem, when i'm bare shafting them they are just the way i like them, just a hair weak( i mean a hair, barely) per ashby's report. With 125grns on the tip. But what i cant seem to fix is the propoising, with or without feathers, it doesnt matter. Canting, straight up....I mean i'm hitting what i want, i even shafted an arrow today and have been racking them just fine. But when i take this to the 3D's i know i'm going to catch a tree limb or something down the line. Any advice? I really need to keep these CE 150's as i'm only barrowing this bow, so if there is a way to do this, please let me know. Thanks again Ya'll, looking forward to your answers.

My first response would be to make sure it is not your form, making sure the bow arm is rock steady, anchor is solid, and release is smooth and flawless.

If that's good, then adjust your point weights.

By all accounts, you should have a good arrow setup for the bow.   :confused:   Best of luck...and let us know what corrections you made to cure it.

Porposing usually is an indication of nock hight problems and/or release problems.  Different bows take different nock heights.  Have might try playing with the nock adjustment if you haven't already done so.  good luck.

Ok, So i have tried some of these suggestions and here are the finds. Thanks to all who have so far replied...

knocks are not too tight..just right

i have adjusted the knocking point higher, but it isnt making too much difference, but it is significantly shifting my POI, when canted it's to the right(i'm a lefty) and when perpendicular it's down. So that isnt working.

The point weight i have yet to try other than the usuall test with diff feild points. Tomarrow i will try and add weight in 10grn incriments. But i'm not sure how much this will help, since it is showing very optimal side to side performance and is hitting just like i would like it to. However this may be just what i need.

Thanks to everyone so far, please keep them coming. After all 20,000 heads are better than one

Set the nock point on up to about 3/4" high and see if the porposing goes away.

Just for grins, use two nok-sets.. One on the string above the arrow and one below the arrow nock...

Ok, here's what i have done so far.

Used two nocks, one above one below...nothing new, still porposing.

Focused on form and string plucking and over all release, still no change...never had issue before either.

Set knock 3/4" high, did see some minor change here, but the POI shifted terribly to the right(i'm lefty) So it wasnt a good enough trade off.

So the only thing i havet done is to add weight to the tip by 10grn increments. Any other things i should try?

Check the tiller and timing on the limbs.  If it's off for your shooting style or off in general that can cause the nock to travel in a real strange path getting from full draw back to brace.  Tiller is easy to check, but for the timing you need a tiller tree with a bow cradle.

I had a bow with similar issues... I ended up putting a 1/4" pad on the shelf and raising the nock point the same - problem solved.

Try the nock 5/8" high and play with your cock feather alignment.  Try cock feather in.  Chad

  I'm glad you got on here. I am only barrowing this bow from a great guy, but I am really liking the feel of it, very stable and quick. I will try this combo, and thanks for making a great shooter.

What are you using for rest material? Sometimes going to something with a little more cushion on the rest and or side plate will increase the forgiveness of a less than perfect release or uneven finger pressure on the string
