Targets Stolen at The Baltimore Shoot
« on: May 22, 2009, 09:03:00 PM »
For those who hadn't heard. At the Baltimore Bowmen Traditional Classic we had 5 targets stolen during our shoot! It happened Saturday night, on the course that sets next to the road. None of the targets were visible from the road. They tried to get 6 targets but, we think that they didn't have room. We found one target hidden in the woods! I sure hope that it was a passer by-er, rather than one of our shooters! Baltimore Bowmen has offer a $500 reward for information about the where abouts of our targets. Which we can idenify.
As everyone who has attended our shoot, you know we work very hard at making it the great shoot as it has come to be. For something like this to happen it breaks our hearts, as well as the hearts of our shooters. I hope this was an outsider and not a traditional brother!
Thanks to all who has supported us, Jerry (JD)

My heart sank into my socks when I heard the news. I carry so many positive memories from the years that I have attended this shoot. I go there with a glad and hopeful heart, and that makes it so much more vulnerable to the hurt that this kind of thing inflicts.

That kind of meanness hurts all who give so much to ensure that the attendees have a thoroughly enjoyable time. It causes the jaundiced eye of suspicion to be cast upon the masses there at large. It hurts all who were cheated of the opportunity to shoot those targets. There is a loss for all of us of the innocent joy of sharing the fun amid like-minded archers, as there are some who walked those woods with shriveled souls.

I would gladly contribute to the replacement of those targets, but something has been taken that cannot be bought.

I too was at the shoot and my son and I spent quite a long time down there shooting those targets! I couldn't believe it when I heard it either.

I shot that course early Sunday with my friend Jim. When we were about half way thru the course the 3-d targets were missing?  I thought that the Club started to pick them up early for some reason, it didn't dawn on me that they were stolen!  I don't feel it was anyone at the shoot but some local looking for free targets. Two times during the weekend I walked away from my tent, was in the woods for hours only to return to camp to find  that I left my Van door and rear hatch wide open.  Nothing was ever stolen, it says something about the people.

That has happened at the archery shop I shoot at. They started to leave the old beat up targets next to the road and set the new ones up in the woods. Luckly most thieves are lazy and won't work to steal anything.

I'd vote for open public canings and mandatory jail sentences for thieves! These days they get a suspended sentence and therapy paid for by the state!

we have had targets stolen off our 3d course also. would be nice to catch them some time. I wonder if you would get in trouble for shooting a moving target if you cought them.

I was at the shoot as well and was sad to hear what had happened.  Someone there mentioned that they brand the bottom of their targets with the club name.  Might be a good idea, though may not stop the problem.

All of us in the Pirate camp were pretty ticked off to hear about this. I hope you can catch up with whomever stole the targets. Your shoot is absolutely my favorite of the year.

Maybe they are starting archery at an inner city school, and they considered it a donation, or you owed it to them because of your success.
I hate a thief, if you need a donation for replacement I'll help out.

I was at a tournament in Idaho one year. I had taken a shooting target with me to shoot at. While everyone was out on the course someone picked up my Target and threw it into the back of there truck. How do I no it was throwing into the back of a truck. Because on target number 12 you could see the road from there and yes I could see my target from there also, in the back of a pickup truck.  :banghead:

I like to Thank Everyone who has left a thread. We have several leads. Any information no matter how insignificant  it might seam might help. I like to give a special THANKS for those who offer to donate cash to help offset our lost. We are not looking for donations we just want the individuals who stole the targets. I know the traditional community feels the same way! Thanks again, Jerry (JD)
