New bow prices up/ resale down
« on: May 23, 2009, 11:12:00 PM »
I know  this doesn't matter to most guys here ..But for us bowaholics ?? Have you noticed that the price of new bows are going up alot .. but the prices for used like new bow are dropping??? If it wasnt for that new bow smell?? I don't think I would ever order another new one with all the great deals going around... Just saw a PSR on Ebray in like new condition go for $400. A year ago you couldn't have touched it for under $650...

I bought 2 new customs in the last 6 months and the prices hadn't gone up. Trying to sell the used ones is a problem because nobody has any extra money right now. The one you saw on the auction site makes my case. Has the price of a new PSR gone up? If so, maybe so has the demand for them. I should add that the 2 bows that I had made, both amazing bows, were under $650 new.

I guess us bowaholics are driving the used bow  prices down. That and the economy. You buy a bow, shoot it and have to sell it to fund another. The labor and material costs keep going up but the market is flooded with used bows.Bowyers have a big backlog so they drive up the price. I guess to try to lower their backlog and to see the light at the end of the tunnel. There are people that want to wait and will pay the price. Black Widow raises their price every year as do most other bowyers.Part time bowyers are better with their prices more of a hobby, labor of love for them.

I like to see the bowyers that I believe do good work being supported in this tough economy. I bought two new bows this year. I guess I am encouraging some to keep on making bows, and ultimately making used bows a glut on the market.

I'm so bad.
