OK ladies & gents the dates are set for the hunt.... October 17 through October 25 (Sat-Sun)..    :campfire:

The fall colors will be at or near peak, and the moon phase is perfect. A new moon is on the 18th. So far we have 4 for sure. There is plenty room for a bunch more. This is a perfect opportunity to get together and meet fellow Trad Gang members, see some really beautiful country and enjoy some good hunting as well.   :archer:

I'll have to keep an eye out on this one. I'll be down in Highland Co. from the 16th to the 26th with a couple of buddies, but there's a few days planned out and about.

I will be in Highland over Columbus Day weekend, and then from the 24th into November. Kinda far for a day trip for me, but I will see what happens.

Ladies & Gents the dates are set, we are hunting October 17 through October 24.  I will most likely arrive Friday afternoon to begin setting up camp. Hunt Saturday and Sunday do some last minute scouting. Then it's hard hunting through the following Saturday and Sunday we will break camp for home.

Feel free to join us for any or all of the above dates.  I will have some good locations scouted out for those that can't get up to do their own.

Last year there we saw a bunch of critters, including a shot at a black bear, 1 buck fell to an arrow and many squirrels and grouse were seen as well.  This year looks to be another super year. I should have a mass crop report within the next few weeks.

Hope to see you there!

This hunt is also posted on the Virginia forum....

just got back from setting up camp.  hunted yesterday morning for a bit.  watched a nice little black bear maul a sapling and also saw 2 deer.  the weather is looking pretty good for most of the week.  for anyone needing directions here they are:

from Staunton get on Rt 254 W.  Travel on Rt 254 W which will turn into Rt 42 at Buffalo Gap. from there you will travel 27.5 miles going through Agusta Springs, Craigsville and Goshen. Turn left onto Rt 635 (T.C. Walker Rd) towards Millboro. Travel 1.6 miles to stop sign and turn left onto Rt 633 (Main Street). Travel 2.9 miles going through the little town of Millboro. The hard surface road will end then travel 0.6 miles and turn right on to Rt 129. Travel 6. miles on gravel road going through 2 creeks to a fork in road. At fork bare right up hill. follow this dirt road until you come to a field on the right. Camp will be in the woods to the left across from field.  if you run into any trouble just give me a ring and I can direct you in. 804-402-6900

Dave (pig man) and I will be there sometime during the week.

Do y'all think we should talk about meal plans?  I think the idea of each person bringing a meal to feed the group for 1 meal was a good idea.  I'll bring a pot of my   Rob-a-que    as my wife calls it.   If I recall the first gathering we all broke out all the food at once.  The second one I think was better.

I know I'll bring warmer clothes for at night and a tent heater this year.  Last year it got quite cool at night.

Hey Rob do we need a Natnl Forest stamp?
