I saw some Widows at the Hill with this beautiful Olive Ash veneer.I'm about to order a PLX and am trying to decide on a riser wood. What combo's did you choose? Sorry I can't do pictures but if you have some of Widow Olive Ash bows please post some.
Thanks
Randy

I've seen the olive ash paired up with ironwood and leopardwood. Both looked good in my opinion...Mike
Check out this thread. Not a Widow, but a nice pic of olive ash limbs with a Zircote riser.

Thanks for the help everyone.
Thanks Mike for the link.Does Zircote usually have thoes lighter brown streaks running through it? I really like the contrast of the Olive Ash with a darker riser and love the way the lighter streaks tie it all together.I had thought of Mcassar Ebony as a possibility but it's hard to tell without seeing it together.I don't won't the bow to look like a pimp.In any case there will be little riser wood in the PLX visible.

I hate trade names for wood. What IS "olive ash"?

Steve,
I don't think that is a trade name. You can find the veneers at veneer suppliers in that name. I put some in a bow, and its gorgeous.

I've been around wood a bit and this is a new on on me! Is it an uncommon American species of ash or some semi-uncommon color pattern in white ash or????

I had serious thoughts about buying that bow at the HH shoot. It's a beauty.

Sterritt
I nearly bought it too but I didn't want a take down and I want one about 4 pounds heavier.
Are you the same Sterritt that I shot a round with? We had Chad untill he bailed and left us the kids.

Steve,
Maybe you were right. I found some nice veneers with name "Olive Ash" and I'm fine with that. Might be a special name for a particular type of ash from the wood industry, not the bow world.

Randy that is me. Not a lot of Sterritts running around. Saw your score on Louisiana site, great shooting. Are you going to the Enid shoot June 27-28? My family is staying up there that weekend, and planning on shooting a round or two.

Randy, maybe Toby at BW can hollow out the riser and fill it with lead for ya. Still won't be as heavy as the bow you shot at the HH shoot but close.

Sterritt
Don't know yet about Enid.
The bow I shot at the HH is just a dedicated target bow.I'm in the market for a nice shooting hunting longbow right now.No need for lead LOL.
BTW,really enjoyed shooting with you.

I love my black widow bows. Now if I can just get something to walk in front my my shrew, need to get a little blood on it.
