We used Shannon "Bug Tamers" for years in my June bear camps. Whenever the big Canadian helicopters tried to set up a new drilling platform they became frustrated - couldn't get their beaks into our skin. The suits kept the black flies at bay too as long as you duct taped any openings.

I have a bug tamer as well. It works pretty good! I just can't shoot with the hood over my head!

Don't waste your money on the lesser suits, Shannon Bug Tamers are the only ones I'd use. Combined with a thermacell its the only way I could hunt in the early season. I've gone out in the past with the less expensive suits and have paid the price.

you need both if its hot. I have been using bug tamer suits for over 10 years and will not hunt without them in early season.

I have one of the wal-mart suits and contrary to what has been said I think it does a great job, especially if you use a thermacell as well. It may not do as well as the bug tamer but if you're on a tight budget it's better than no suit. I've had mine for about six or so years now.

I have the Bug Tamer suit...used to make sense before the development of ThermaCells. They are bulky and hot and I no longer use it. ThermaCells are worth their weight in gold! I'll never return to a bug suit.

Thanks to the generosity of Three Feathers I now have a suit for my Georgia hunt. I am continuously surprised by the folks on this site.

I've gone bear hunting in Quebec the past four years with just the Thermacell (and a head net until the T-cell gets going). Not a problem at all.
