ILF tunning for 3 under
« on: July 16, 2009, 11:25:00 AM »
Can you tune and ILF bow to shoot three under as opposed to split? Seems like you could back one limb off 1/2 turn and that may help but I don't know if that is correct. Anyone know?

Yes, you sure can. One would need to set the tiller at even or maybe 1/16" positive whereas the normal "split" tiller is 3/16" - 1/4" positive. This is done by adjusting the limb bolts and "positive" means the top limb is greater. "Tiller" is measured as the distance between limb and string, when braced, at top and bottom of handle where limb meets the handle.

All that said, one should tune the bow to your individual needs and there is no set norm that needs adhering to. Just whatever shoots the best for you. On my DAS I had 1/16" positive tiller and could shoot it either way, 3 under or split.

Tiller isn't as critical as a 1/32nd measurement, etc.   It is, like brace and nock height, adjustable to your personal style.  You can even try a zero tiller...both limbs same, and see how that works.  One of the most fun aspects of this sport is playing with such things to see how the work for you.  I hope it never comes down to black ink on white paper, that would take the fun away.    ;)

My Titan shot best for me at even tiller for 3 under. Every one shoots a little different with finger and heal pressure though.
