Estimating consumables usage?
« on: July 18, 2009, 02:57:00 PM »
I'm a bowhunter who hunts deer and elk 45 days per year. Hunting territory is heavily forested hilly terrain, comparable with upstate New York -- exaggerated -- in western Montana. My shooting skill is average. And game populations are high. My record is 19 whitetails in my backyard at one time.

1. How many Terminator Light Select arrows should I expect to break/wear out during a year? I shoot about three times a week in my backyard, each session shooting 20-25 arrows.

2. How many should I expect to lose during a 45-day archery season?

3. How many broadheads should I expect to lose during the year's hunting season?

While my broadheads and arrows are relatively inexpensive, I'd like to have your collective sense of how many -- how much -- I should anticipate to keep everything puttering along. Having been burgled a couple of months ago, I lost enough that I have no clue regarding actual usage. Since I have a vault now, security is no longer an issue.

How good a shot are you?
I would likely overestimate, based on my own experience.

My only guess to all those answers would be:

DEPENDS ON HOW MANY TIMES YOU SHOOT AND MISS!!!!

Get two dozen rigged up and use one doz for practice and stumping and keep other for hunting. 2 doz arras and 1 doz broadheads should last you couple of years.

I usually try and make up a dozen new ones each year myself. Last years hunting arrows become this years practice arrows. We have a 3 1/2 month season and all my practice is outdoors. Probably more than I need but its always good to have some spares.

With one shot?  I think a couple of arrows per year would do just fine   :bigsmyl:   ...Van
