back to the basics and teaching kids how to get there.
« on: July 28, 2009, 10:47:00 PM »
I just recently finished watching a new type of hunting video called "the journey begins" by straight arrow productions. I was given this DVD by one of my customers and asked to watch it and and then give him my feedback. So instead of giving it right to him I thought I would let all of the archery world know my thoughts.
This video was all shot and edited by a rookie to the movie world he went out and bought the equipment and supplies he would need and not even knowing how to use them. He set out to make a new style of video that was geared toward the next generation of hunters the ones we will pass this sport onto. This father son teamed up to make a movie that would inspire other familys
The Journey Begins is a great foundation for any first time hunter. Jeff and Lucas teach convey a great mix of enthusiasm for the sport as well as the respect that is needed to be shown towards it. Along the way there is some guest speakers that put their opions in on the subject of a great hunting experience and how to make the most out of yours.
I would recommend this video to any one looking to get your youngster started in the right direction. To plant that seed in their mind to look at the over all picture while going afield. Dont buy this video if you are looking to see some kid shoot a 180" whitetail at 40yrds that he called in while rattling the first time in the stand. Do buy this video if you want your son/daughter to enjoy spending time with you, enjoy the sport respect the sport, and want them to lay off the cell phone/video game/computer.
I received nothing out of writing this review and no I am not a ultra pro hunter that can sell a ketchup Popsicle to a nurse in white gloves just as long as my name is on it, but I do know what it takes for a for a youngster to enjoy and respect my sport.
I encourage you to at the least go over to his website and take a look around and see what message this family is trying to convey to the hunting community.

That's good enough for me! Word of mouth is the best advertisement there is, and if it's really a fresh step away from "horn-porn" I'm sure your friend will find much success.

Thanks for the tip.
