Browning Cobra Question, THANKS GANG !!
«

A good friend of mine has brought me a bow that was passed on to him by his father. The bow is a Browning COBRA 44#@28", Length is 50"s. Can anyone tell me what the brace height should be, and how long the string needs to be. Thanks in advance. He is wanting to start shooting traditional, and this bow has sentimental value to him so I am hoping some of the gang could help us figure these questions out. thanks in advance for any help.

I'm not positive of the brace but that bow will need a 46" B50 string.

8" brace works good with the one on my rack. LeRoy is right, 46" B50 string.

Nice shooters! They came with a neat arrow rest, shown here. This one belongs to a friend (who never shoots it! )

The rest on John's bow is a piece of dry rotted leather that I'll be replacing. I've never seen one like the rest in Killdeer's pic, looks neat.

looks like the question got answered. it's an icnredibly sweet bow. I've got one hanging on my rack that never gets used, either. all I shoot any more is longbows.

It's a D-shaped arc of spring steel, and the front (bow-back side...yeah, run with that!) is split and rides on a guide. The steel is covered with calf hair. This, in effect, makes a rounded shelf that gives way under pressure.

Anywhere from 7 3/4-8 1/4 works good with mine, little less shock at the higher brace, mines 50 in. 60@28.

My Wasp has a 7 1/2" brace height, and it works really well. Of course mine is 56".

That rest is called a "Saunder's Whisper Rest". They show-up on a certain auction site on occasion. I pick one up when I can. I love them on my non-radiused shelves.

Thanks gang, I appreciate all the help, all I have to do now is to set the brace height, and install the nock. I can't wait to give it back to him.....also giving him a dozen 2016s 30" long already fletched and ready to shoot. I hope he enjoys it.
