Martin Mamba Fastflite String?
« on: August 09, 2009, 10:02:00 AM »
I just recently helped a buddy of mine find a Martin Mamba recurve and he purchased it. It is very much in almost new condition. It looks like it is a very late model bow and would be okay to use a fastflite string on it. So, I ordered him a custom D97, 12 strand string with padded loops for it. Now, I'm wanting to know for sure that the bow is fastflite compatible before I put it on. It's 58" AMO and 50#@28" and he draws about 28.5 to 29 inches. The serial number on the bow is: 6202. How long has Martin been making their bows fastflite compatible?

Here's a pic of one just like it(minus the limb savers):

Thanks for all the help in advance.

Don't know about a mamba, but I had a dream catcher made in 2005' that was ff compatible.

You should have taken a photo of the tips, that would let us see how they are reinforced.  That being said, I've been using a 450+ Fastflight on my 1967 Shakespeare Necedah.  It's doing very well.

I didn't get to take any pics of the bow before my buddy took it home with him. I was hoping someone could tell me about it based on the serial number and by the wood in the riser. The one in the pic is the same in looks as my buddy's bow.

Fastflight and D97 aren't the same thing. Fastflight stretches more. If your buddys is grey, it most likely was not made for it. The one in the picture probably is ok. Martin is good about answering questions.
If it's in your way, move it.

My buddy's is the same as the one in the picture. It has black glass on the back and belly. Very nice bow.

Thanks for the info, guys. I will take the advice and call Martin Archery tomorrow.
