« on: August 11, 2009, 06:55:00 PM »
Guys, I can't think how fast summer is going.. But that only means on thing it's all most time to be back in the woods with are family and friends.. So guys I just wanted to wish you all my best of luck to you and your family's this year and be safe and have fun.. How many guys have been shooting there bows every day ?.. And or making that new set of arrows ?... Or has that one tree picked out where they are going to put a stand ?.. For me I only have one the few thing done and that is shooting..LOL.. Maybe I should work on the other things...LOL

Guys take care & Good luck,

Cody

I've been shooting every day, and chasing blacktails for a few weeks now. Killed quite a few stumps so far!

Thanks for the well wishes and best to you and yours as well.

Thanks guys, I been shooting for about 30mins each day and I only try to shoot good arrows.. I am up to shooting at 20 yards.. I don't think I will shoot over 30yards at any game.. I would like to know how far some of you guys are shooting..

Best,

Cody

I'm keeping it 20 and under now.  When I put up a stand, I take 10 steps from the tree and put a stick in the ground, another 10 steps and another stick.  I don't shoot until they are inside the sticks.  I call it the redneck range finder.

I am shooting wensel woodsmans out to 35 yds with great grouping. This is the farthes I would shoot on game unless in a field. I shoot quiet a bit at 40, shoot good groups, but like to keep it closer for good retained energy. My 3 deer last year were 22, 10 and 17yds, and all fell in sight with ww broadheads! Since rehabing from shoulder surgery, I have shot slower, concentrated more on form and follow through, shoot about 60 shots a day instead of 100+ and am back up to #50. I am shooting the best I have ever shot, consistently, in my life. I walked out the other day, first shot at 40, second at 38, 3rd at 35, 30, 25, 22, and 20 for the last one. I could reach around all the shots with my 2 thumbs and forefingers, all with broadheads. This alone is a trophy for me after having extensive shoulder repair, still have a cable in my shoulder and arm bone, not knowing how I would be able to shoot afterwards. I am going to have a good year, no matter the outcome, seein lots of deer, working right by some blinds I made last year on a daily basis, com on Sept. 5th, woo hoo.

I practice a lot at 12 yards(because of a small yard), but also out to 40 at the range(I shoot 20 and under on game).
I have built a couple of ground blinds near a food plot.
Deer season opens on my WM Area on Sept 4th but I'll probably hunt hogs before then.
Good luck!
