A while back, I did some selling and swapping for a 62" Tip courtesy of Ralph Harris. The bow was 57@29, which is just a tad heavier than I like, but I have wanted a Schafer for sooo long. I jumped all over it and we came to a mutually agreeable deal.
First, let me say that Ralph in no way mis-represented the bow. We talked on the phone before finalizing the deal, and he told me it had some use marks. That was ok. Well I got the bow, and just fell in love with it. What a sweet shooter!
The finish bothered me a little bit, because I like a nice looking bow as much as anyone, but more importantly, I didn't want moisture working into the limbs or riser and doing damage. So, I called Dave and Beth at Schafer bows, and they agreed to re-finish it for me at a reasonable price.
Got the bow in the mail today, just 3 weeks after I sent it to them, and WOW! The new finish seems to have darkened up the walnut stained riser, which I really liked. A nice looking bow just got a ton better!!!
Here's the bonus... I asked Dave to weigh and re-mark the limbs at the appropriate weight for a 28" draw. I'm guessing that it lost a couple pounds when he was sanding it, because it came in at 52@28. Perfect! Yippee!!! WAA-HOO!!!
