question for experienced aluminum arrow archers. with all variables being equal - which arrow will penetrate better and be stronger through the shaft area. will a heavy shaft with lighter point be better than a lighter shaft with heavier point. my bow shoots both setups straight and bare shafts fly good. shooting into a block target they penetrate almost even. overall weight is within @30 gr. but which will be a better hunting shaft. the 2018 with a 100gr point is a smaller diameter with a more standard FOC. and the 2213 with a 145gr point has more FOC and has a little more static spine. the length of both arrows are the same, but which one will be tougher in the woods. say if i don't pass through and the arrow is hanging out one side which one has a better chance of hitting more trees and making the hole bigger before breaking in half.

Always heavier head and more FOC if tuned correctly.

30 grains is a negligible weight difference. Hardly enough to matter.

The difference in diameter is also negligible... 1/32", but smaller diameter gives better penetration. Like I said, hardly enough to matter.

The 2018 has the edge for toughness with it's thicker wall... 18/64" as compared to the 2213- 13/64".

All factors considered the 2018 is slightly superior to the 2213.

Which one has the weight advantage?

the 2018 setup has the 30 gr advantage.
2018 with 100gr is @505 gr.
2213 with 145gr is @478 gr.

What Charlie stated...2018 would be my choice for your setup.

i appreciate all your help. i was leaning towards the 2018 maining from past experience.i got messing around today with some other arrows and started thinking about the performance. and with 2 setups so close together thought i would ask for some other's experience and thoughts. thanx for your help. tim.

that would be 18\\1000" & 13/1000" rather than 64ths for wall thickness wouldn't it?

Killdeer

Yup. The mechanics remain the same.

I agree with Charlie, except for the wall thickness. It's .018" and .013" for the 2018 and 2213, respectively. The first two numbers(20 and 22) represent the outside diameter in 64ths of an inch(20/64" and 22/64"). I would recommend the 2018 also.

Thanks for the correction guys!! I knew what I wanted to say, but the pain meds I'm on are having an impact on my brain function.... at least that's the excuse I'm using.

pretty sure we knew what you meant, but i got a kick out of figuring out how big that 18/64th thick walled arrow would be.

'TGMM FAMILY of THE BOW"at 211 degrees water is hot.at 212 it boils and cause's steam, which can run a locomotive.is it worth that one extra ounce of effort to finish first, the difference between good and great?
