I sent him a note of admiration and congrats on his fine trophies...most especially a Cape Buff with a recurve. There a very few fellows I'd trust to take that shot...unfortunately, most are no longer with us. Marty is on my short list of modern day hunters. I don't think he'd mind me sharing his reply:
"WOW... thanks for the kind words. It was more than just killing a buffalo.
The pressure of the shot was almost more than I could bare, They had a fellow with a compound shoot one too low the week before my hunt. It took them 4 days to finally track it down and kill it with a gun. No one wanted me to shoot one with my recurve. If I had made a bad shot, They would have to put their lives on the line to clean up my mess. LOTS of pressure not to choke.
Thanks again
Buff"
Truly a life-time accomplishment and he'll always know when the pressure was on that he, indeed, didn't choke and made the perfect shot.
