another tuning ? broadheads
« on: August 27, 2009, 09:13:00 PM »
Ok i`m very familiar with bare shaft tuning, but i never bare shafted with broad heads. I was putting BHs on my shafts an i thought well i might should see how they fly with out feathers,  well they flew like $%#!  a couple kinda good but mostly not. So my ? is, is this normal when field tips tune out?  Or could  the broad heads magnify my release an thats why only a few flew right. I`m leaving in the 18th of sept for elk an have had nothing but set backs but thats another story. Advice appreciated

Dont bare shaft with broadheads, they want fly good and will fly very eratic b/c the broadhead is steering the shaft.

I feel your pain.  I did the same thing 5 years ago. My problem ended up being the arrows overspined.  I added 100gn to my POC and got the BH to fly at 20 yards without feathers. I was trying a new old style longbow.
