I'd guess that an anchor just weighs him down.   :)

I noticed that the fellow also shoots what looks to be a fairly light weight bow for the exhibition.   This may just be a safety precaution.  Lot's of spectators and crew to potentially stop a stray arrow.  

It also looks like he passes the next arrow between the string and bow on a reload. Kind of cool, if true.
