Climbing Tree Stands

Gordon,not sure if this applies to you..when buying a climbing treestand make sure you buy one thats "big" (wide) enough for your body size. Also if you are going to be packing it in and out daily or for some distance consider the weight of the stand too. I have one steel climber and 4 aluminum climber stands. I hunt a lot and on my cable stands I replace the cables  every 2 years or sooner if they "look" stressed. good luck with your purchase and don't forget to wear a fall restraint device..

I owned one for a very brief period of time. After hunting with it twice, I gave it away. Mine was very heavy and loud.

For less than I paid for the Strong Built, I bought a used API Bowhunter climbing stand. They're light, stable and very quiet.

I have a lone wolf sit and climb with the seat sewed up to the bars works great even on us big guys.Whatever stand you chose just make sure thier is no rail in front of you it gets in the way every time.Sold my summit for that reason.

I love the Summit Razor SS, it had a bar in front that you can sit on to climb but it folds out of the way when youre ready to hunt. The downside is that its not always easy to find a straight tree with no big limbs thats in the perfect spot to hunt.

Lonewolf - expensive yes but the stand is all worth it. it is quick quiet and easy to put up. Light enough to pack forever!

I strap my pack to the stand with bungee straps then the stand on my back.

I've had 3 and use them now that I hunt East Texas piney woods. My first was an antique steel Ammaker. BION, it was as good as anything I've tried because it was so simple. PM me & I can explain in detail. Just know slips and falls are quite possible especially if you don't get the stand adjusted right. Suggest a GOOD safety harness. Even a harness can be a big problem if you're hanging upside down.

I have a Summit and it is a good stand.

My favorite is the Summit Clear shot or open shot - easiest stand and the lightest. I own a Lone Wolf Alpha with the sticks and it is slower setting up, way slower putting away. I never liked the "sit and climb" thing - If I was over weight maybe I would.

I like Lone Wolf stuff a lot when I get them at the right price used, but my Ol' man would climb way larger trees.  I don't use climbers much any more.  I still have a Gorilla that is like the ol' man design, but with a few improvements I like plus light weight aluminum seat frame and base.   I pack my assault to my stick ladders now.  That is faster and way quieter to set up for hunting private land.  I just move the stick ladders around if needed.  Summit has a huge following and I know many people who love them.
