Got the word Wednesday
« on: September 04, 2009, 06:32:00 AM »
Well looks like I'll have the shortest bow season in fifty six years of hunting with the stickbow. Met with the surgeon on Wednesday and my back surgery is set for October 5th two days after the start of our season in Pa,with a three month recuperation and no lifting or pulling in that time I might make it out in our late season after Christmas. Good luck to all.Turkey 65

Good Luck to you on your surgery.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside thoroughly used up, totally worn out, with bible in hand and loudly proclaim...WOW...What a Ride!!!

At least you get two days, then think how much better you will feel next year.  Also, you will have an excuse to get your buddies to drag out your deer, you don't want to tear your back up again.  Work it right and maybe you can get them to clean it for you, too.  Lots of pulling and lifting when you get the hide off and stuff.  Bill

Take care. Its better to miss some season then be in all that pain. I went through 3 back surgeries and was fortunate to get some extra time to hunt one year because of it. Good luck!

Richard,  Take care of your back after you heal...I had back surgery 2 years ago and helped drag two of my friends deer out and one of mine and let me tell you they weren't big but the twisting and moving around from dragging and lifting things I shouldn't of lifted has done something to my right side and I ain't been back to have my inside checked yet...I think I loosened a screw from the metal they put in..Mine was my L-5 and it took me about a month an a half before I went back to work...The Dr. wanted me to wait longer but I had no income coming in for several weeks and needed to go back...As someone already stated ask for help and don't rush it...God Bless and I pray you heal quickly...Keefer's <")))><

Sorry to hear it. I have been in your situation twice; 2005 and again in 2007. I feel for you. But trust me it's best to follow your doctor's advice and not rush it. The first surgery I rushed my recovery and honestly feel that had a large role in the second surgery being required.
