two weeks til my elk hunt
« on: September 08, 2009, 05:20:00 PM »
helped my buddy work on his wheel bow last night.  I love archery and have occasionally dabbled in the black arts.  Anyways, after we got it fined tuned and shooting good, he asks me if I want to take it on my pending elk hunt.

I told him that my H2 would be plenty of bow but he did point out that I could expand my range out to 50 yards- if I wanted.

11 days and counting................

extended range and diminished satisfaction.  Stick with the H2, you will appreciate the hunt much more.

I would of had my first elk (a dandy bull) if I would have been shooting my recurve. I could not get my release hooked up in time on my confound and he winded me and was gone in a heartbeat.

Don't worry fellas, I'm not taking the bow. I just thought it was funny that 1) he offered and 2) he was serious.

Next time remind him that he could extend his range from 50 yds to 300, if he left the compound at home and took a rifle.  There is a direct correlation between effort and reward.

Good luck on the hunt.  Hope the Good Lord blesses you with success.
