First shot of the season!
« on: September 10, 2009, 09:09:00 PM »
And I missed! No not a deer, though I do miss my share. I saw a flock of turkeys this evenig, huddled up in the back edge of a field in the rain. I ducked down below a bank in a ditch, circled around about 120yds, peeked up, ducked back down, raised up and drew slowly back and hit anchor, released. I had picked on that was standing still, back to me, and she turned about the time I released.I cut some feathers out of the top of the back, arrow just skimmed across and rattled out over the bluff and into the holler below, a woodsman gone bye bye! Anyway, was pretty neat to stalk up on a group of about 25 turkeys, was about 35yds. I went and found 2 feathers, cut into in the middle, no blood, no harm, just a little education. I feel pretty confident that I will get one or two ths fall, seeing several flocks, and got my first every archery bird with a trad bow last year. Just thought I would share.
