What is your States requirements, in terms of legal age for a youth to start Archery hunting and harvesting...........BIG GAME

How does your state look at HOGS ? Do they require any type of permitting. Would or does your state consider them Big Game

wtpops

California here. You must be old enough to pass the hunters ed classes to get a hunting license.

The age limit comes in when you apply for a big game tag. You must be a least 12 years old to apply for all big game tags except for bighorn sheep and that age is 16.

You need tags to hunt hogs here in Ca, so the age limit is 12 years old for hogs but there is no limit. Personly i think our state looks at hogs as a distructive money making game animal.

Not sure on the age of bowhunting but they have killed most of our hogs by helicopter. It is illegal to shoot a hog in Kansas now unless you have a permit.

Any person 6 through 15 years old may purchase a Youth Deer & Turkey Hunting Permit without displaying a hunter education certificate card. This permit allows a youth to hunt in the immediate presence of a licensed adult who has a valid hunter education certificate card or a resident landowner (who was born before 1967) on the landowner's land.

To hunt hogs, a hunter must have at the very least, a small game tag in their pocket. Like most states, Missouri considers hogs to be a pest species. There are no restrictions on the type of weapon that can be used to kill hogs and as far as I know, there is no law saying the hunter has to make an effort to recover the shot hog. Kill them by any means possible and eradication of hogs is the goal.

I don't think that there is any limit on age hear in oklahoma. The only exception would be on public land where you must be accompanied by an adult until a certain age. I think it is 14.

IN has no age limit but you have to take Hunter's Ed.  There is also an apprentice license where you don't have to take hunter's ed as long as someone ovr 18 accompanies you at all times.

Hogs are non-game but pretty rare.

In Pennsylvania you must take a Hunter Education course before you hunt - no matter what your age.  You must be 12 years old before you can hunt.  You may take an online course.  Hog hunting in PA is unregulated and open 365 days a year.  The problem is that 99% of the wild hogs in PA are in 3 counties that do not allow wild hog hunting - the Game Commission thinks that hunting will cause them to become more wild and elusive thus making it hard for the government controlled hunts and trapping to be affective.  They do not want wild hogs in PA due to disease, soil destruction and livestock competition.

In Michigan you can archery hunt at 10 years old but have to pass a hunters saftey course.  But we dont have a huntably population or piggies.

In Arkansas there is no age limit on youth hunters, but they must be able to draw a 40# bow, which is legal equipment in Arkansas.  But, they can also hunt with a crossbow.  Somebody can cock it for them, and they're ready.  All youth hunters have to have a Hunter's Ed card, and be under direct adult supervision if under the age of 12.

In Arkansas hogs are considered a pest.  No rules regulating them.  On private ground, you can hunt them year round day or night with any weapon.  One G&F officer told me that I could hunt them with dynamite for all they cared.  On public land, you have to use the weapon for whatever hunting season is open.  If no season is open, then nothing bigger than a .22.  No bows and daylight hunting only.

Hey Vance,

Here in the people's republic, it's 10 years old with seperate hunter safety courses required for each type of "weapon". Bow, shotgun, rifle (inc. muzzle-loaders), and I think there's a new one for crossbows too. Not sure bout that one though.

Kids under 16 must be under direct supervision of a licenced adult hunter while deer, turkey, or (on those rare occasions that we've been allowed to), bear hunting.

No hogs up north here but, I think I heard they're startin to see them in the southern part of NJ.

No minimum age, just need to be able to shoot the minimum weight bow (35# @ 28" for longbow 35# at peak draw for compounds).

Need to be accompanied by an adult until they are 16.

No hogs in our state.

WESTBROOK

How does your state look at HOGS ? As vermin, anyone with any hunting license can shoot them on site.
