need help - arrows

I shoot a longbow 53# @ 25" I buy laminated birch shafts at 3rivers they are suppose to be 5/16 but they are not they are 11/32 and I cut them at 26" bop they shoot great the next batch are full length 30" bop and ( arrows I receive from 3 rivers are not consistent ) This could be my prob I don't know??? I don't get it. I buy the same shafts for the last 3 to 5 years and all of a sudden they are 5/16 11/32 I can't figure what I am getting next and now my arrows are 30" bop to 26" bop and my bow is shooting all over the place. Whats up with that?? What do I do start from scratch or just keep shooting?? I am loosing confidence in my shooting.Not to rag on 3 Rivers but holly hell every time I buy arrows I don't know weather I am getting 5/16 or 11/32 and as long as the weight is consistent and the spine what would be the problem they should all shoot even though I don't know what pts and knocks to buy. I have all my arrows laid out and some kick left some fly with their butts doing a loop left to right and some fly perfect. It's not an emergency I have the 5/16 cut at 26" flying great and then I have another 4 dzn that go everywhere.I have them all marked and I guess I should start with the ones kicking left and just start working on them to get them to fly right and be happy. Any suggestions I will be happy to try???? Most of the arrows I can keep cutting to make them shorter but it's funny I have a bunch that I left long for my selfbow and they shoot great and then the next batch are long and they shoot all over the place. Don't know????

Sounds like a spine issue to me.  11/32 lam birch are going to be at least 60 lb, whereas the 5/16 are going to be 45-55.  Next time you buy the lam birch, just get them from Bill at Allegheny Mtn Arrows.  Same shafts.

I believe your right. So with the 11/32 if I can leave them long and start from there I should be able to find what works. And they most likely should stay as long as I can leave them ???

Not sure what to tell you regarding all those errant arrows, Michael. But I can tell you this: you need a new arrow supplier.

I agree with Killie.  Does look like a spine problem to me, with maybe an interaction with physical weight as well.  If you don't already have them, a spine tester and grain scale are absolutely essential if you're going to shoot wood arrows.  There are always variation in spine and weight of wood shafts, often much larger than the specified range ordered.  Without those two tools, it's nearly impossible to construct a well-matched set of arrows, or know whether you received what you ordered.

I called and they said yea they noticed a difference but they should all be good now. It's not about 3 riv , I am fine with the 11/32 but why can't I seem to get them to fly. I should be able to leave them long and get flight or maybe they are to short already. I will have to ck. With my 25" draw I always seem to have room to move.

Have you tried moving your nock point? If you were using 5/16 and moved up to 11/32, your point could be too low, causing bad flight.

Sounds like a perfect time to bare-shaft tune.

Wahoo, I'd start with paper tuning and at least make sure they are close before you go to bareshaft; they break if they hit the target sideways.

Leave them full length to start with field points to match your broadhead weight.  If they show weak, shorten them a half inch at a time until they shoot straight thru the paper.  If they show stiff, load up on point weight or start over with some weaker shafts.

What spine did the tag on the 11/32 shafts say?

11/32 50-55. I will ck everything. How do I go about loading up the front?? I think I will be fine,it seems to me that they all go left. I will ck after work and work them.I have a grn scale but no spine tester. I don't believe it's a nock issue, no up and down??? I will ck though.Prairie I love my Rockey Mtn curve. I have this new longbow and my arrows all seem to be different to get the flight I want.Frustrating.
