String Material Opinions
« on: September 15, 2009, 06:48:00 PM »
I’m going to add to my options and wanted some input.

I’m thinking of the following string material…Brownell TS-1 plus, BCY 8125, BCY 450+ and BCY 452x.

I guess I’m leaning towards BCY 8125 but the 450 series also looks to be good. I will get some TS-1 plus in a few colors as there seems to be a lot of people that use this material…I’ll probably offer 3-5 colors.

If you have a preference please let me know as material isn’t cheap and I want to get the one people want the most. I’ve read a lot that BCY 8125 makes great skinny strings and is extremely tough stuff.

I will add a poll to this.

Thanks,

Josh

I voted 8125. I make 6strand 8125strings (good up to 72.6#bow)

I have been whipping up a lot of strings with 8125. Only thing that I don't like about it is the dye comes off on my hands like nobody's business!

Everybody is hot for skinny strings, but I had to make some some fat ones because they are kinder to my fingers and tabs.

Killdeer you can just pad the serving. I use .26crown double served sometimes. A thicker serving is a good thing. Think about it you need less to cover a given area and it's the same price.

Do you notice the dye with all colors or are some worse than others?

Black was the worst. Washes off your hands pretty well, though, and buffing the string helps take most of the surplus off. The color seems to stay strong even with the dye coming off. My older strings still look very nice.

Get some ultra cam.Dave's been using it in endless strings on the Black Swans and the results are outstanding. Not sure who makes it.

Ultra cam is a Brownell brand string.

I'd have to vote none of the above. I have been using D97 and don't see any reason to switch.
