ILF money saver idea.

I've done this for a while and figured I'd share it since the number of ILF shooters is expanding. The plunger gives you some great tunability for arrow flight and when setting one up they tell you to remove the spring and to place something inside to make it stiff for tuning. Plungers can cost quite a bit and stick a ways out on the side of the bow which I've never liked on my hunting bows. The plunger hole in a riser is 5/16 fine thread. I go to my hardware store and by the hardened bolt in a 1" or 3/4" size for about .32 and cut a piece on Velcro and place it on the tip. Screw it into the plunger hole and you have a solid side plate for your arrows and not much sticking out on the side of the riser. I have a small flat nut from an old plunger I use to lock the bolt if I need to back it out some for tuning.

 
 
Once screwed down you just have a hexhead on the side of your riser.

If you use a nylon bolt insteads of steel it works even better.

I did that one time with a recurve before decideing a centerrest was the best thing since peanut butter on anything that has a plunger hole.

The NAP Center Rest works great, I just don't like the amount that sticks out on the side of the shorter ILF risers.

That's an easy fix. Get the bow tuned then cut the excess off leaving enough to cut a slot for a screwdriver blade if you want a bit of adjustment left

The bolt method gives you some tunability and is bomb proof. You can carry plenty of extras for under a buck not that I've ever needed more than one for a bow. I like simple too for a hunting set-up.

A set screw would work too and there'd be nothing sticking out.  Just a dab of superglue or the blue loctite to lock it into place once you're tuned.

I couldn't find any fine thread set screws Jeremy. I was going to use one if I could have. I also like the risers that are tapped so you can use a plunder to shoot off the shelf like the Morrison here and the Belchers are now.

That's where I get these. The set screws are all 18 or 20 (short also) not 24.

He has two left last I knew and I don't know if there'll be more. He had a bunch of issues with the shop that CNCd these for him and it took forever to get them done.

I know you are going for cheap, bullet proof and simple, but aren't there some advantages to having the spring in a plunger? I would think the spring would be more forgiving of form mistakes - very useful in a hunting situation.

Two short 5/16"x24 set screws work well....the second as a jam to hold centershot setting.
