decorative knobs for limb bolts
« on: October 07, 2009, 10:04:00 AM »
I like my takedown bow, but I'm less-than-thrilled with the plastic knobs on the limb bolts.

Unfortunately I don't care much for the antler rosettes either (kind of look like flowers to me), so I was looking for something different.  I always liked the intricate pattern inside a black walnut when you section it with a hacksaw, so I took some of those, imbedded the bolt and filled with epoxy.  I put India ink in the epoxy to make it black.  I also put backing of 3/16" maple board to strengthen it, and rubber washers.

Here's the final result.  Turned out pretty cool, IMO.  Kind of wicked looking!
