Look what a guy at work handed me.
« on: April 04, 2007, 08:48:00 PM »
One of my co-workers knew I was a traditional enthusiast. He told me he had an old Bear recurve at home.  He said he thought it was from 1949.  I was very skeptical and asking him more about it I was sure he hadn't a clue.  After our conversation he said he had researched it on the internet and figured out it was most likely from the "70's".  He then asked if I would like to have it.  The next day he brought it to work and gave it to me.

Here it is:
It is a Grizzly 35#

This is the only scratch on it.

Good fishing bow right there. Forget the lottery and save your money, I think you used up this months allotment of luck.

Nice

It amazes me the nice old bows sitting in closets, stored in basement and attics, hidden under the bed etc

They were making 3000+ bows a day back then. There are so many gems waiting to be rediscovered.

I'm just so happy its almost gargage sale season again! And for you! Hard to believe, as I did'nt find anything like that! Those lower poundage bows are such a treat to shoot. ALLDAY! And just as fun! And how well they tune your form. It will teach you a lot granted you already did'nt have a lower poundage bow. And you make use of it!

Boy thats the kind of bow I need for my son. He is going to be old enough to take the NJ hunter safety class and I've been looking for a 35# bow so that he can take the shooting part of the test.
I'm happy for you that you have a friend such as the one who gave that bow to you. You are blessed. It sure is nice looking too.
Oh well I'll keep my search going for a bow he can use and practice with for his shooting test.

Got me beat.

I had to trade my boss a ultralight fishing rod/reel for a 47# 65 Kodiak.

I'll take that trade any day...
