The wind was whipping pretty good today, so I thought I would do a little spot and stalk. Jumped a couple of deer in some thick stuff with no shooting opportunities. I snuck into a hollow and found 5 deer bedded down from 35-60 yards from me, with no cover to get closer than I was. I decided to wait behind an old rotten blowdown for them to make a move, hoping they would give me a shot as they made their way into the field. Unfortunately, 2 doe came up on the other side of the hollow and 4 of the doe from below joined them and fed away from me. I decided to wait for the last one to move, still hoping. After an hour I decided to finally put the stalk on, since there was only one set of eyes. 10 minutes and 10 yards later the deer, a medium sized buck, decided it was time to go. Once again, it fed directly away from me and I couldn't catch up. All in all, a fun afternoon. No shooting at deer, but I did take this bunny with an arrow that I found today. The rut is just around the corner, boys. Can't wait.
