Grizzly Heads... Problems...

Have been hunting with grizzlies 160 gr for the last few years... however we run into problem of having to file an edge at bottom of ferrule... and bottom of blades... there seems to be some steel blurr... has anyone else done this...? how much does this little edge affect penetration...? Does anyone know if Grizzly is doing anything about this...? Love this broadheads... great flight, tough, great penetration... can anyone advise...? Thanks... Lobo Gris...

I have some and hunting with them this year though first year with them. I found that same deal and through tradgang learned to file that edge flat to get rid of burr. No problem as long as you get rid of it.

do you mean the burr on the ferrule from when they are pressed out to make them or on the flat bottom edge when you sharpen them? i just file the press marks or burr out to be smooth and hold the bottom of the blade flat on a file stone when sharpening.

i put mine on an arrow and hold it and have no problems getin them sharp as a matter of fact my season is done now i shot my buck in the shoulder and went through them both i'm sold on these heads

Grizzlies should be considered raw, unfinished broadheads and that includes every part of them.
There is a burr on all edges that are square, including the solder transition. Its a small price in time for a pretty good broadhead I suppose, and yes the whole thing needs to be gone over.
Grizzlies are what I think of as a "handyman special". They are  certainly a "hands on" kind of product. As long as you know that going in, no problem.

I think those burrs would affect penetration and should always be taken care of.

The new style Grizzlies seem not to have the problem though.

It takes about 10 seconds per grizzly to remove the slight burring that occurs from the stamping. A few light swipes from a small file does the job quite nicely. Not much to get frazzled about. I kind of enjoy messing with my archery stuff!

yep they take a bit of work to get them hunting ready but the end product is a good strong very sharp head

Thanks. I nver thought of getting rid of that little bur on the back edge.
